Exercise 2 - Home, Sweet Home (Workflow)

Our idea for this exercise was shaped around a derelict block of flats which strongly contrasts to the conventional Edinburgh architecture. We initially were aiming to establish a sense of abandonment and loneliness. We used a variety of shot types which displayed the grand scale of the flats as well as its near surrounding including a small children's park. When I cut the sequence together, I ensured that the transitions weren't too fast and used a desaturated colour grade in order to help convey the tone.

Crit Feedback

This piece was well-received during the crit with comments on its clear communication of the atmosphere and well thought out shots. One piece of feedback suggested the clip reminded them of a socially realist piece of film which I felt was a similar response to what we were intending to get therefore I feel that we did a good job on this exercise. If I could improve one thing it would be considering how we could maybe use some camera movements.
